To assist in ending the discharge of untreated sewage and polluted run-off into our rivers, lakes, and coastal waters — and to support restoration of the natural balance for our aquatic ecosystems.
Named after the Celtic goddess of rivers and nature, Danu UK represents renewal, stewardship, and the power of communities working together for clean water, climate resilience, and sustainable development.
We are a not-for-profit, cooperative venture bringing together scientists, engineers, innovators, local communities, the UK water supply industry, regulatory bodies and environmental organisations to deliver practical, transparent, and nature-aligned wastewater solutions across the UK. Waste Water Treatment Works (WWTW) Overspill Treatment
Across the UK, outdated infrastructure allows hundreds of thousands of hours of untreated sewage to enter our rivers and seas every year.
Danu UK develops and deploys rapid-response, modular treatment systems designed to intercept, contain, and treat these overflow events — turning crisis discharge into clean, recoverable water.
Our systems:
Capture and treat overspill flows during high-rainfall or surge events
Use best available technologies (BAT) including Geo-Filter containment dewatering, filtration, and natural polishing processes
Can be rapidly deployed, scaled, and integrated with existing Waste Water Treatment Works (WWTW), industrial wastewater processes
Provide measurable reductions in suspended solids, Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Ammonia, Perfluoroalkyl or Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS or Forever Chemicals) and pathogens
Generate valuable by-products such as reusable water and biochar
